OUR HERITAGE
Haus zum Kindli was first mentioned over 500 years ago by the Saxon pilgrim Hans von Waltheym. In 1474, his travel journal described our House as an elegant pilgrims' hostel. Visitors came every year at Whitsun until the Reformation, to the processions of Fraumünster and Grossmünster, which took place on the historic Lindenhof. This tradition prevails. Kindli continues to be a hospitable and cosmopolitan house, where the guests find a warm and welcoming “home away from home” and experience a sense of belonging. more

Biography of a house
The Kindli is located literally in the heart of Zurich. It was here, at the Lindenhof, where the developement of the city began. Over the course of almost 600 years, the house zum Kindli has witnessed countless social, political and economic upheavals as well as personal human fates. Beginning in Roman times, the Kindli was positioned on an axis between sacred and secular centres directly between a temple and the fort of the Lindenhof.
